What is biological age?

Biological age, also known as physiological or functional age, refers to the age of an individual’s body and systems and is based on evidence gathered via a blood test. A personโ€™s biological age is influenced by factors such as genetics, lifestyle, diet, exercise, stress levels, and environmental factors and may differ from their chronological age.

Biological age reflects how old a personโ€™s body appears to be based on various biological and physiological factors whereas chronological age is simply the number of years that a person has been alive.

There are various methods to estimate biological age, including assessments of physical fitness, biomarkers (like blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and DNA patterns), and overall health. Our advanced test analyses chronic inflammation on a molecular level to provide a more precise estimate. Chronic inflammation leads to tissue damage and increases the risk of many diseases, thus speeding up the process of ageing. With the right guidance and adjustments in lifestyle, chronic inflammation can be hugely decreased, thus reducing the risk of disease, meaning we can live longer, healthier lives.
